So I came home, stretched, grabbed a banana, and then hit the shower. It wasn't until I was almost done with my shower that I realized my Garmin watch was still on my arm. Yikes! I've only had this thing a month, I don't even know if it's waterproof. It looked okay, the display was still reading, but it was plenty wet. I dried it off quick and put it on the charger. Hopefully it will be okay.
My Garmin, post-shower
But that incident wasn't the dumbest thing I've done in the last 24 hours. Let me tell you what I did last night. We were going as a family down to the river watch the fireworks, the finale celebration for our River Festival. It always is a great show and 75,000-100,000 people always crowd around the river to watch. Well it was pretty cool, so rather than drive all the way back home, we stopped off at my parents to pick up a few blankets to stay warm.
We went in their house and talked with them for awhile. My son, Bryden, brought his new aluminum baseball bat into the house. He had just had his first baseball practice earlier in the day and wanted to show it off to grandma and grandpa. While we were talking, my son started getting careless with the bat, dropping it on the floor, hitting tables, etc. So, I took it away from him, and we kept talking. About 2 minutes later, and I'm not sure how it happened, I was talking with bat in hand and somehow I hit myself in the mouth with the aluminum bat. Instantly I knew that I cracked my front tooth. Yep, smooth move. I had the small chipped piece in my hand. I was so mad at myself. I seriously don't know how I did that. I was just talking and then wham! cracked tooth. So, a week after visiting the doctor for an expensive root canal, it looks like I'll be making another expensive visit. I am such a dork.
The evil bat. The chipped tooth.

Ouch!! I'm cringing thinking of that.
Not sure about the Garmin and it's waterproofness. Hope it keeps working for you!!
So sorry about the tooth - bet it cracked your son up, though!?! C'mon, no picture of the new smile?
Garmin should be fine!
Niceeee! Kid will NEVER let you live that down, BTW!
Dude, go buy a lottery ticket. Your luck has to change........... Ha.
Hahahaha....
sorry buddy, but that's some priceless stuff!
Seriously though, glad you're not more hurt - sure your Garmin will be ok too. Funny stuff man. Momma said...
Ouch! How horrible for you! And chipping your tooth! You poor thing!
(did your son have a tiny little chuckle though, as you'd taken it from him?)
I can tell you that the old Nike Plus doesn't handle water... I left mine in my handbag with a bottle of water that wasn't secured properly.
I'm getting closer and closer every day to the Garmin 405...
Thanks for the nice comment on Danica's blog. :) I hope your Garmin is still working! Sorry about your tooth, but you still look great!
My Garmin has survived some rainy runs that seemed the equivilant of being in the shower, so I think it will be fine. iPods, yeah, they're not so durable.
Sorry about the tooth! But it is funny.
Sounds painful, but also hilarious. And also totally sounds like something I would do! Not many people can just hit themselves in the mouth and chip a tooth while talking with bat in hand, my friend. :) I label it AWESOME.
Oh, and I bet your Garmin will be fine. I sweat so much on mine I might as well wear it in the shower. :)
Now that is a rough weekend.
OH CRAP, man that's not a fun start to a night or a finish to the weekend...
My Garmin 205 survived many a rainstorm, it should be fine.
Sorry about the tooth.... sounds like we'd be good company. I thought I was the only one good at those things!
As long as you don't submerge it in water for long periods of time I think it's fine. I always have to rinse mine off if I wear it (gets so sweaty).
Sorry about the tooth!!
AHHH hope your Garmin is alright!! Sorry about your tooth :-)
A good drying out should be good for the garmin. Maybe wearing a mouth guard while talking will work, jk. Sorry about the tooth, is the bat ok?
Ahahaha...wow that Garmin in the shower story..wow. I'm still trying to figure out how you didn't realize to take it off. That Garmin stands out like a monster on my wrist. I normally cannot wait to take it off and throw it across the room after a run because it is so heavy. It only means that you worked out hard and was THAT tired! Yay you!
