Giving the Foot a Rest

I recently developed a pain in my left foot, the sole/heel portion of the foot. I suspect plantars foot just because it hurts the most when first getting out of bed in the morning or when getting up from sitting for awhile.

I had plantars in the same foot awhile back and promised myself that I would get better at stretching....well, that worked for awhile. I'm spending the week resting the foot and stretching it, so I will be ready for the 5K race this Saturday.

Oh, and the cool thing about this race? It runs right past my house, and will be running on many of the roads that I train on. I guess I have a home court advantage, though I doubt it will help me Saturday.
Anyway, I'm resting the foot this week, and trying to stay hydrated because we're having blistering hot (pushing 100 degrees) and humid weather all week....uck

Good on you Oz - rest up!

What luck having a race run past your house - you'll blitz it!

What sort of stretches do you need to do to avoid foot injuries?

I hope your foot feels better soon, good luck on the race!

Stretch those calves! That tends to be where foot pain comes from.
Stay hydrated too. It's miserable out there! I just got in from a 5AM run and it was horrible at that time, can only get worse!

It's always fun to run a race that is close by. Good luck resting this week as you prepare for it!

Good luck on the race this weekend! It's cool that it goes right by your house!! Rest that foot for sure!! I've learned my lesson all too well on not resting an injury or what could become one!

And this weather! Ugh!! It's not any fun when it's almost dark and still in the 90's and with humidity feels like over 100!! Ahh gotta love the summer!!

i think i might be too tempted to drop out of the race and sit on my couch ;)

good luck this weekend! hope the rest helps your foot feel better for the race, and running in general of course.

Oooh, nice on the race by your house!! I actually think I'm going to be in town this weekend and could race, but if I race I think I'm going to do the Rock N Run at the North YMCA (closer to MY house) :).

Good luck on the foot pain thing, and good for you for taking the week off. I bet a week of rest will really help.
