Not Quite Ready

I'm still dealing with my plantars foot, but it has been feeling a little better lately. The pain seemed to diminish in the foot a little. And, we have had absolutely gorgeous running weather these last couple of weeks. So, Saturday I went for my first run in about 3 weeks. It was just a short 3 miler, and I felt great. The foot actually felt pretty good. I got home from the run, iced my foot, massaged it, stretched it, and rolled it on a golf ball.

However, the next morning the pain was back. With a vengence. Yep, I don't think my foot is ready just yet to start running regularly yet. So, it's back to the elliptical and walking. And stretching, and icing, and wearing that crazy elf sock. Which means I am probably not going to race in September, which stinks because there were a couple of races I was looking forward to. I am sooo ready to have my foot healed up where I can run (or even walk) pain free again.

Sorry that your foot is taking so long to heal, but you are wise to continue to give it the time to heal that it needs.

I had PF for years. Take care of it and be patient and it will pay off in the long run.

I really hope the PF clears up soon so you can get back out there.

Sorry for the PF pain, it's a bummer that it's stuck around so long. Sounds like you had a smart test run though.

Ugh, that does stink, September is a good racing month around here. But smart to let it heal up, you don't want it to turn into a worse, more permanent problem. Just think, another month or two of rest, and we're still into nice fall weather for running!

Sorry to hear that it's still bothering you, but you're wise to keep babying it and refraining from racing.

You may have answered this in another post and I just can't remember but -- do you wear orthotics? They've done wonders for my PF (which was just developing and hadn't gotten bad at all when I got my orthos).

Dude that sucks! I've shutdown my racing for the year and looking forward to 2010.......

Take your time - there'll be races when your foot's good & ready. We runners are an impatient bunch, especially when it comes to injuries :)

I agree with Joy's comment, although its not easy. I think there are socks you can get that help with PF?

How frustrating. I hope your PF clears up soon!

pf has to be one of the most annoying injuries from what i've heard about it! sorry to hear it's still bothering you, but hopefully with a little more rest and pampering it will start cooperating again soon!
