Test Run=Fail

I hadn't run for 5 days, I was giving my calf some healing time. It was feeling pretty strong and felt good enough to go for a run yesterday.

But, after about 1/2 mile I felt a twinge in my calf again that brought me to a halt, and I walked back home rather than risk further injury. I am not sure what I did to my calf, but it obviously needs more recovery time. I've thought about getting a deep muscle massage, I've heard that those can help.

So, I went back home and since it was so beautiful out, I put up the Christmas lights. Yes, I know it's early November, and I think the neighbors thought I was crazy. But it was beautiful here yesterday, I couldn't resist.

Also yesterday, sandwiched between my son's last soccer game of the season and 2 kids' birthday parties, I got to watch K-State win the Sunflower State showdown football game with KU. One more win and we're bowl eligible baby. Never would have believed it at the beginning of the season. Go Cats!

Your neighbors won't think you're crazy when they're putting theirs up in 20 degree weather. Like we probably will be.

Sorry about your calf. Hope it gets better soon!

Sorry the run didn't work out - but you're best to be cautious.

I've had calf pain this past week as well, and after speaking with the experts (life long, daily runners I work with) I had the advice to walk or run backwards to both stretch and strengthen the calf. Along with RICE and roller massage. Hope it heals soon!

sorry to hear about your calf. i'm sure you are stretching, icing, epsom salt bath-ing? i'm sure a massage of sorts wouldn't hurt - professionally or if you "rolled" it out. hope it starts feeling better asap!

Sorry to hear that it was painful! Hopefully all you need is more rest for it.

Nuts! Sorry about the calf. God for you for not pushing it and risking it getting worse. But, still, bummer!
