Hello Darkness, and Coldness, My Old Friend....

Dark and Cold Again
So just when it was getting light outside for my early morning runs, and I was starting to not need a running light (or at least turn it off mid-run), Daylight Savings Time says "psych!" and has me running in the dark again....

And just when I was starting to be able to wear shorts and t-shirts for a few of my runs, Mother Nature says "psych!" and brings on some more chilly weather.....

Just when I think we are on the verge of spring,  when I can start stripping the layers for my runs, I had to bundle up in the darkness again this morning....

Despite the cold and dark, I did get in an easy 4.5 miles this morning and felt pretty good....I feel like my training is getting back on track after being sidelined 3 weeks with an injury and my legs are getting stronger....

New Music
I downloaded some songs from the new U2 album to listen to during my run, and really like "Magnificent" as a running song.  When the full band kicks in (after the long intro) it's really great.  Check it out if you're looking for some running music, or if you like U2.   Some of the songs on the new album will have to grow on me, but U2 is still one of my favorite bands.    I also downloaded some new warmup/cool down music, Griffin House.  Really cool music, in the vein of Jason Mraz or Jack Johnson.    Griffin House is great music to just have on in the background when you have friends over, just cool chill out music.

Basketball Update
First off, we didn't win the championship game last night.  Second off, we SHOULD have won.  We were up at halftime and it was back and forth the whole game, very close.  The other team went up by two with 6 seconds to go, so we had one last shot at it, but the referee called a very lame charging foul in the open court, something that should have been a non-call, and they made two free throws to win by 4 points.  It was heartbreaking, but still a lot of fun.  We had tons of fans there (they had to bring out extra chairs even), there were 3 referees, a scoreboard, and an announcer. It felt like a real basketball game instead of just a bunch of old guys trying to relive their glory days.

I love it when they make us feel like we're athletes again. LoL

Feels like the old days.

Yes, Mother Nature seems quite fickle this year. Bummer about the bad call during your game but the important thing is having fun. Very cool that so many people came out to watch.

Nice on the run, I can't drag myself out of bed, especially this morning, ugh. WHERE DID SPRING GO? BOo. Glad you are feeling good on your runs!

I know although I am really excited for my post work runs and not having to worry about daylight... I definitely miss the morning light for those early runs.

The new U2 is decent - hardly their best effort though.

i actually like morning in the cold, dark mornings. Then again, my 'cold' is probably everyone else's 'warm'. Happy running!

Sorry you lost your basketball game. Good job on your run, tho!

I love U2... haven't heard much of their new album except magnificent.

Crazy weather you've been having! Before you know it, it will be spring... then summer. Then it will be the heat and humidity getting to us!

I haaaate it! I was in shorts and tshirt and now I've got to put a freakin sweater on!?! It's no wonder everyone is getting sick all over the place.

I'm finally running in nice weather today, hopefully warm sunning weather will float your way soon.

I heard the U2 album was really good.

I'm loving that there is more light out later in the day, but hating that its darker in the morning. If mother nature would just declare Spring we would be so happy.
It sounds like we listen to the same music. I love running to U2!
I play the occassional pickup bball game and its nice to "think" that I'm still good! My boys say, "Dad didn't you play bball back in college, then why do you suck so bad?" It's that teenage smack talk... haha

Tell me about it! Just make up your minds...is it spring yet or is it not?

Sounds like a fun game.

After 77 degrees on Tuesday, we are getting snow today. Crazy weather here, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's funny you had just posted a muddy picture of your boys! They actually have a Muddy Buddy Junior part of the race for kids. Looks like yours would be great at that.

You may have a point there, on the running plan thing ;) Not so much the girl scout cookies. I HEART THEM!

No about yesterday, I wimped out and headed to the gym with my gym buddy from work. You should know I used the term "run" yesterday QUITE loosely!
