I went to the doctor and the doctor said....

no more monkeys jumping on the bed..."

oh wait, sorry, that's my kids' book.

I did, however, go to see the podiatrist, and I am not sure what I thought of him. He did very little testing or touching, and mostly just looked at my feet and let me go on and on about the pain I feel, etc. He didn't seem like he even asked very many probing questions about things, either. In the end, he recommended some supports for my shoes, so I got fitted and they are ordered. For what I paid, they better work. They should be in next week, and hopefully before long I'll actually feel like a runner again.

I'm loving the Olympics right now too.....anybody else catch the guy that won the bronze medal in speed skating on Biggest Loser? What an inspiring story, to come back from an injury like that. Amazing.

I hope the inserts work, too. I hate going to the doctor and feeling like he/she didn't really do much.

Oh, and no more jumping on the bed for you!!

Doctors are so not worth the money they charge for the 10-15 minutes they spend with you! Hope the inserts work for you. Good luck.

I hope the inserts work. Seems like inserts are the standard answer from podiatrists. Wish there was an easier way to get custom orthotics...

I went to an orthopedic specialist for my foot once...guy spent less than 90 seconds looking at me before he recommended orthotics and walked out. I was SO unimpressed that I never did go get the orthotics made. Hopefully yours do make a difference for you, though!

yes, it was great to see him win the bronze, and Ono take the silver. I could do with out the figure skating, but hey, it helps balance out the adrenaline sports i guess.
take care of that foot!

I had my first pair of inserts about a year ago and unfortunately they did more harm that good. But the second pair was fitted right after a case of serious tendinitis and done by a foot and ankle specialist and they've worked very well for me. Good luck. I certainly know how frustrating these nagging injuries can be.

Hope the orthotics work! It's tough finding a doctor who's worth the $$$.

I've never heard of inexpensive custom orthotics, but have heard good results from others. I hope that'll be the case for you!

I went to a podiatrist once upon a time....that tale did not end well...I found the help I needed at a store in Atlanta, Phidippides, owned by a runner named Jeff Galloway....sometimes established running equipment stores know a lot about fitting and what you need....just a thought...hope you find your "magic shoes"

I love the olympics too and thought of that short track race during my race the next day.

I'm not feeling the love with the podiatrist. I'm curious to know what happens once you get the inserts.
