It depends if you want to train by heart rate at all in the future. For the folks I know that try to train by heart rate they have seen a lot of improvement, but if that isn't up your alley then go for the 205. That being said...I have considered upgrading myself to a 305 or 405 because they have the "foot pod" option that allows you to use them indoors...handy when you're running on the indoor track to avoid 50mph winds. An upgraded Garmin might be my present to myself as soon as we get done with moving expenses AND I get some sort of phenomenal PR in some sort of race.IzzyBubbleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14913332040346444308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155040142224230662.post-83996288616946533382009-04-07T10:43:00.000-05:002009-04-07T10:43:00.000-05:00Oh and as for Garmin, I would go for the one witho...Oh and as for Garmin, I would go for the one without the heartrate, mine doesn't have one and I would never use it I don't think. I have a 101 (old school, was passed down by a guy who decided he will never run again, for good reason) it tracks laps (each mile) has a trainer on it and that is all I find I ever need.Being Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11313501742081164175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155040142224230662.post-52198600915155635852009-04-07T10:42:00.000-05:002009-04-07T10:42:00.000-05:00WOW nice three miles! I talked to Adam last night, he is joining us for dinner, starting the race with us and is getting FWR t-shirts for his family! You interested in any of that? He is also joining for our last training run of 8 miles we are doing the week before the race. Again, clearly don't believe in email. Let me know if you are interested in any of the above. It looks like a 1980's relic but gets the job done.

I didn't concern myself much with heart rate stuff when I purchased it, but now with specifically paced workouts and goals on Pfitz's marathon plan (and also wanting to see what my progress might look like based on heart rates for the same types of workouts), I sort of wish I had the HRM. That said, it's not a major regret. Just something to think about, even if you're thinking now you're better off without a HRM feature.TiredMamaRunninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17423159147507047828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155040142224230662.post-52736065683898965622009-04-07T10:19:00.000-05:002009-04-07T10:19:00.000-05:00Best Buy has the 305 on sale this week for $159, w...Best Buy has the 305 on sale this week for $159, which is a great price. I love it!

I think you're right...the only difference is the heartrate monitor (and the ability to work with a biking device measuring cadence). I have a heart rate monitor that I have only used a handful of times, so I didn't think I needed to spend the extra $100 for the 305. The 405 is smaller, but I couldn't justify the extra money for it.

great job on your run!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03902589811626771148noreply@blogger.com
